It makes no sense that the stories told about those around me, in the train, at work, at the coffee store or the petrol station, struggle to resonate with those around me. A shift towards writers from within communities creating an organic narrative, to ensure that misrepresented and marginalized peoples inform a version of events that can be relevant to a diverse population.
Stories connect us and build a genuine understanding of the world. They are the foundation for building ethical and sustainable bridges for socio-economic gaps. Genuine insight into a culture and ethnicity, from the perspective of one of it's members can undermine stereotypes and allow populations to be complex.
